Hinke Halbertsma

I am Hinke Halbertsma, a PhD student currently working at the Laboratory of Experimental Ophthalmology (LEO) at the University Medical Center in Groningen. During my PhD I will study brain plasticity related to hemianopia, blindness in one half of the visual field. More specifically, I aim to address brain changes that underlie the optimisation of residual perceptual processing. In order to do so, I will use psychophysical measurements to investigate patients their perceptual (residual) processing and neuroimaging techniques (such as (functional) MRI and Diffusion Tensor Imaging) to investigate the related brain changes at both a functional and a structural level.
