On April 8th, Frans Cornelissen gave a presentation at the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden about visual illusions, art & the brain for the “Museum Jeugd Universiteit”. About 50 kids listened in to his presentation about visual illusions, the brain, and art of Escher. Check out the new Frisian Flag Visual illusion that was designed for and shown during the occasion.

How does it work? Stare for about 30-60 secs at the middle “leaf” in the image. Keep your eyes as steady as possible. After that, turn your eyes to a white surface (wall, paper). What do you see now?

Sometimes it helps to blink your eyes to “reset and refresh” the (after)image.
